# Introduction

Qist is a DeFi protocol that runs strategies to generate **interest-free, halal yield** for stablecoins.

Our strategy generates returns [via market-making](/qist/yield-generation.md) stablecoin liquidity pools onchain. 

This strategy avoids *Riba* (interest), *Gharar* (excessive uncertainty), and other prohibited elements.

All Shariah-related aspects of the product — including structuring, certification, compliance monitoring, and ongoing review — are under the exclusive oversight of a dedicated Shariah advisor, [Dr Farrukh Habib](/qist/our-shariah-advisor.md).
